Community Projects

The Festival has a long tradition of community projects that are co-created by professionals and amateur performers, bringing together people of all ages and from all walks of life.

Friendships are formed, skills are developed, and vibrant stories are told.

We also work closely with partners to ensure that as many children as possible in Ryedale have access to musical opportunities, with the Yorkshire Post recognising the ‘commitment the Ryedale Festival has to encouraging young people to participate and enjoy what is on their doorstep’.

Other participation opportunities include regular Come and Sing events, with leaders including John Rutter, Eric Whitacre, VOCES8, Caius Lee, and Ben Parry.

All are welcome to take part. Enthusiasm is all you need and no previous experience of singing or reading music is necessary, as you will be guided by brilliant professionals and welcomed by a wonderful community.

‘It was amazing to sing with other people because we learn from each other. We all loved it and found it so uplifting and moving – thanks for the opportunity’
